Vintage Matchbox

Vintage Matchbox

Detail of matchbox

This morning, I emptied out my piggy bank and went to a yard sales in town. This vintage matchbox was one of the cool things I found there. It was printed in 1955 by the Ohio Match CO. The dimensions of the box: 4.75″x2.5″x1.5″. I love the colorful drawing and design of the matchbox. It amazed me that someone kept this cardboard matchbox so well for more than half of a century! I am glad that he/she did. :0)

Thrifting…

Potholder

Potholder: The design reminds me of the work of Taro Gomi, a Japanese Children Book Illustrator.

Teapot

I found this cute teapot ($2) and potholder ($0.25) in Thrift Box, a charity-run thrift store in the downtown Willow Glen of San Jose. So far, this is my favorite thrift store in the South Bay area. Prices are by far the most affordable and the proceeds go to Lucile Packard Children Hospital. I love going there because the people working there are very friendly. The moment you walk in the store, you know that they are doing it for the community and the well being of others, not for profit. Their spirit touches me.
